Improved handling of misconfigured observers, plus a cleanup fix in the bundled script.

Improvements

• Improved observer configuration handling so that misconfigurations are gracefully rejected instead of throwing hard exceptions.

Bug fixes

• Removed a duplicate license comment that appeared in the bundled fs.js output.
